Jo Lindsay and Lost Sea Opals
In establishing Lost Sea Opals, Jo Lindsay has created an ongoing platform for her own creative needs.
The company is based on Morilla Street at Lightning Ridge, NSW and is located right at the main source of this most precious of gemstones.
Black Opal is named for its natural black base of opal material, which in turn enhances the vivid colours of the opal layers above. This results in a stone of unequalled colour and pattern.
In Lightning Ridge with a wide choice of this colour and pattern, Jo is able to obtain the balance of gem material versus metals in order to fully enhance her statement pieces.
Diamonds, pearls and other gems are used regularly in Jo Lindsay’s work, with the designs always underpinned by her strict trade based work ethic. Structural integrity is an intrinsic part of every design ensuring the longevity and wearability of each and every design.
Jo has been commissioned on several occasions to make pieces for the famous including stunning green opal cufflinks for United States President Obama.
At Lost Sea Opals we strive to ensure that same level of quality is included in each and every jewellery piece by whomever it is commissioned.
Lost Sea Opals workshop and display areas are open to the public, and visitors are most fascinated by the manufacturing process going on for all to see.
Heating and quenching of hot metals, sawing and cutting, beating and bending all part of the process. Followed by the detailed and painstaking finishing disciplines that ensure the light sits and reflects from the piece with just the right balance.
And of course the beautiful finished product polished and displayed in our studio under the clean bright light of the western plains.
