Lightning Ridge girl and talented fashion designer Julie Shaw from LUELA
made her debut with an elegant Spring/Summer collection at
Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in Sydney on May 5, 2011.
Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) is Australia's premier fashion event.
Showcasing their collections, designers are exposed
at this event, to the world's most influential buyers, media and key industry
representatives.
LUELA Spring/Summer collection 2011 takes inspiration from the theme of ballet
dancers, exploring the concepts of strength and agility juxtaposed with
fragility and softness, through the uses of silk chiffon and cotton tulles,
internal boning and corsetry structure, wrapped in long grosgrain ties.
The collection is the perfect balance between femininity, strength and,
above all, elegance.
For the RAFW show Julie collaborated with local Lightning Ridge jeweller
Jo Lindsay from Lost Sea Opals who styled the stunning opal pieces into the
show to give the garments a unique edge.
LUELA was created in 2008. This label embraces all things feminine and
elegant, drawing inspiration from vintage laces and embroideries. The designs
are fast gaining a following for their signature feminine pieces. The label is
stocked in leading boutiques across Australia, NZ and the UK.

year incorporating the 2011 International Opal
Jewellery Design Awards.
One of the world’s most prestigious opal
jewellery design competitions will be held in
July 2011 in Lightning Ridge (world’s

The International Opal Jewellery Design Awards
promote freeform opal with undulating surfaces
