The October school holidays saw an
unprecedented number of visitors out fossicking
on the opal fields. Some hoping to strike it rich
– and some happy to at least find
something of a souvenir to take away with them.
One very happy fossicker found in the rough (after, it must be said, much hard work!) -
this gorgeous orange and gold opal, which our fortunate fossicker then
brought in for us to polish into a beautiful,
elongated, freeform shaped opal finally weighing around 4
carats. Once polished, we set about turning it
into a fine handmade original piece.
The result?
A stunning pendant (pictured left) featuring a natural dark opal displayed in
18k gold and a wonderful reminder of her latest
visit to the Outback.
