An opal doublet consists of a solid piece of natural opal fused to a dark backing. The backing enhances the glorious natural colour and sparkle of the opal.
A doublet gives you the opportunity to own a rare piece of opal with brilliant colour and pattern, at a fraction of the price of an equivalent solid black opal. All opal doublets sold by Lost Sea Opals are made in our workshop using top-quality Lightning Ridge gem crystal opal and a backing of natural black potch.
